Mankato Ballet Company produces a high quality spring concert each May. This concert includes our full school of dancers from ages 4 and up. In the past we have been proud to share the stories of "Alice In Wonderland" in 2009 and Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" in 2010 and "La Boutique Fantasque" in 2011.
MBC is proud to announce that our Spring 2012 Concert will feature the full length ballet of "La Sylphide." This Romantic Era ballet is one of the oldest ballets still performed. As is typical with romantic era ballets, someone dies of a broken heart, and in this story James leaves is fiancé in search of an unattainable Sylph, or fairy. When he realizes he can not catch her and bind her to earth and then sees his fiance marrying his best friend he realizes he has lost a great deal.
MBC will also feature performances by our Modern, Lyrical, and Tap classes. Additionally, the Mankato Ballet Company members will be featured in two works of choreography. These stunning pieces will surly delight the audience!
Spring Concert will be held at Bethany Lutheran College – Ylivsaker Fine Arts Center.

All dancers registerd as students in our Session 2 classes participate in the spring concert. Each dancers pays a $25 performance fee. The fee coveres the cost of purchasing, creating, embelishing, and cleaning their costumes. MBC owns all its costumes, so dancers do not keep costumes after the prodution is complete. By doing this MBC is able to keep the costume cost for each family down.
Specific information about Dress Rehearsals, when to be at the theater, what to bring etc. will be handed out on Observation Day.
