Linda Munson Memorial Scholarship
Linda Munson began dancing with Mankato Ballet Company when she was 12 years old. Linda loved to dance! She found participating in ballet instruction and performing with Mankato Ballet Company to be some of her happiest times. Linda continued to dance with MBC into her adult life. Her most recent performance in “The Nutcracker” was in 2002.
Linda passed away in the spring of 2004 from angioedema, an allergic reaction. Her parents, Judy and George Munson, designated MBC as one of the recipients of Linda’s memorials. It was their wish to establish a scholarship in her name so that her memory and love of ballet would live on at Mankato Ballet Company.
We are honored to be the recipients of these funds and will take the responsibility of awarding her scholarship very seriously. If you are interested in applying for this merit based scholarship, please read the following guidelines.
1. The Linda Munson Memorial Scholarship is a merit based scholarship with a maximum award of $500.
2. All MBC students 12 years old and older by September 1st are eligible to apply.
3. Students applying for this scholarship must complete the Linda Munson Memorial Scholarship application, submit the required essay and perform in a live audition. All applicants will perform the same piece for the audition and must attend rehearsal.
5.MBC’s scholarship committee will evaluate the scores from both the essay and audition as well as input from the dancer’s primary instructor regarding the applicant’s dedication and discipline. The committee will review the scores and comments and choose one student annually to receive this scholarship.
